James A.K. McCuaig, 18, of Oak Ridge, son of David and Patricia McCuaig,
has been awarded Boy Scouts highest rank of Eagle Scout. For his service
project, James planned and executed the installation of an underground
irrigation system for the arena at Horsepower Therapeutic Learning
Center. A project of this scope could not have been undertaken without
the support of: Seth Mickle (Triad Outdoor Care), Ron Hall, (PSI Pipe),
Dennis Rhodes and David Godwin (John Deere Landscaping), Jim Coffey, his
advisor; Van Clippard and, last but not least, the Scout and parent
volunteers from Troop 139. James has been involved with Scouting since
he was five years old and has been a member of Troop 139 since 2001. He
has held many leadership positions including Senior Patrol Leader,
Quartermaster, Troop Guide and served in a leadership position at the
International Jamboree held last summer in England. James is a senior at
Northwest High School and is continuing his education at Appalachian
State University in the fall. He is active in karate, soccer, Speech and
Debate, Mock Trial, Youth Leadership Greensboro and will stay involved
with Scouting as an Assistant Scoutmaster.
