Kernersville lost a dear husband,
loving father, respected sensei, and friend.
Master Instructor Richard Gilliland had over
40 years experience in the Martial Arts. Mr. Gilliand started his journey
in the Arts in 1963 when he joined the United States Navy and became a
member of the S.E.A.L. teams. He started teaching professionally in
Kernersville, NC in 1982. Master Instructor Gilliland held Black Belts in
Karate, Judo, and Okinawan Kobodo. He was ranked in the top ten in national
tournament competition, and was awarded the prestigious National
Instructor of the Year for his contributions to the Martial Arts.
He will be missed but never forgotten!
